Green Motion shifts gears
The car rental company making (low CO2) tracks in every corner of the world.
Car rental company Green Motion last week confirmed the sale of its Master Country Franchise for Portugal to the MCoutinho Group, which is one of Portugal's largest automotive retailers.
MCoutinho currently represent 20 brands in Portugal, such as the Stellantis Group, Renault, Ford, Seat, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Jaguar/Land Rover.
Green Motion Founder & CEO, Richard Lowden said in a press release, "The signing of Green Motion's Master Franchise for Portugal represents another major move in the development of our brand across Europe, with Portugal representing a major market for us, especially from a source-U.K. perspective."
"We are incredibly privileged that we are able to partner with MCoutinho Group and are thoroughly looking forward to working with Paulo and his team," said Mr Lowden.
Paulo Pereira, mobility manager for the MCoutinho Group, stated, "Partnering with Green Motion was a natural choice as we evolve the mobility services provided to our growing customer base, with our focuses on the environment and technology completely aligned.
"We are looking forward to firmly putting the Green Motion brand on the map in Portugal and providing the full range of mobility services to our international and domestic customers," he said.
Established in the United Kingdom in 2007, Green Motion is now recognised as one of the world leading brand in lower CO2 emission car and van hire.
In late 2021, Green Motion opened new franchises in Moldova, Macedonia and reopened one in Iceland.
Beyond Europe, the company has branched out with new franchises in the likes of Antigua and Barbuda, the Dutch Caribbean, Kenya and across the USA.
The new addition of Portugal to the Green Motion franchise brings the brand's portfolio to 54 countries across more than 550 locations worldwide.
