Gönül Kahvesi is Turkish for “Heart Coffee,” and that’s no coincidence! Science has shown that a cup of black coffee a day is good for cardiovascular health and in the prevention of several other chronic diseases. It’s said that due to its unfiltered nature, Turkish coffee also has higher levels of the beneficial health compounds than its traditional counterparts.

Established in 2002, with a single store in Izmir, today, Gönül Kahvesi is Turkey’s only boutique chain of coffee house. It has 90 stores, employing over 800 people in both Turkey and abroad. It’s now easily one of the most recognised coffee chains in Eastern Europe. Gönül Kahvesi offers its customers a unique place to socialise in a comfortable and relaxing environment while enjoying their best variety of coffees.

Gönül Kahvesi has brought a different taste to Turkish coffee with their seven different coffee styles. Their Turkish coffee specialities are Gönül Harmani, mastic coffee, cardamom coffee, chocolate coffee, melenic (citenbik) and terebinth coffee along with espresso-based coffees and local filter coffees. They also have a range of teas, sahlep, hot chocolates, cold drink options, as well as a special breakfast menu, pastries, sandwiches, ice cream and their trademark beverage called Katadut Yagmuru.

The sultan of Turkish movies, Turkan Soray is an ambassador of the coffee chain – often appearing at grand openings of new stores. The stars presence brings the openings to life as fans flock to see the film icon while getting a chance to taste their multi award-winning coffee.

In 2014, Gönül Kahvesi decided to expand abroad after receiving interest from overseas, opening their first international branch in Sarajevo that summer. They can now also be found in Bahrain, Austria and Germany. According to the company, “New branches are looking to be opened in other European cities, as well as Dubai and America.” The heart of the business goal is to see 500 stores worldwide, carrying Turkish Coffee to the top as a quality and reliable brand in the national and international arena.

The company currently has three different concepts for franchisees to choose from:

  • Heart Coffee
    • Gönül Kahvesi is Turkey's only boutique chain coffee house. The menu is mainly based on beverages, including Turkish coffee varieties, the formula of which has been specially developed by Gönül Kahvesi.
    • The monthly turnover target is between 150,000 – 450,000 TL / 10,000 – 30,000 EUR depending on the store’s square meterage.
       
  • Orient by Gönül Kahvesi
    • Gönül Kahvesi will begin to host its guests at Hilltown AVM Istanbul with its brand-new Orient concept, which also includes a very special kitchen and hookah.
    • As our new concept, it has been designed for you with its very special cuisine and comfortable environment to accompany your pleasant conversations, where Eastern and Western cultures are used intertwined in both the architectural structure and the menu. We look forward to meeting you. 
    • The monthly turnover target is 1.500.000-2.000.000 TL / 100,000 – 130,000 EUR
       
  • Gönül Kahvesi Express
    • Going beyond the traditional merchandising approach in line with the analytical solutions it produces, Gönül Kahvesi aims to meet its guests at Gönül Kahvesi Express with its take-away service, which includes all the products it offers for sale in its branches, by switching to the mobile unit as well as the opening of new branches.

  • A store with an average space of 100 square meters of indoor and 150 square meters of open space.
  • Franchisees should apply all theoretical and practical knowledge and operation and ensure 100% compliance.

The franchise fee for Gönül Kahvesi is 40,000 – 50,000 EUR + VAT.
 

ORIENT BY GONUL COFFEE

For the Gönül Kahvesi Orient concept, the franchise fee is 100,000 – 120,000 EUR + VAT.
 

GONUL COFFEE EXPRESS

The franchise fee for Gönül Kahvesi Express is 15,000 – 20,000 EUR + VAT.
 

The requirements for investment are as follows:

  • Surface rea: Varies by concept
  • Franchise fee: Determined according to the franchise model
  • Guarantees: Bank letter of guarantee, real estate
  • Royalty fee: 5%
  • Advertising marketing expenses: 2%
  • Profit margin: 30%-45%

Turnkey Store: The internal structure of the store is planned by Gönül Kahvesi Merkez in accordance with the concept and square metre.

First order total amount: Varies according to concept.

Merchandising software: The Franchisee is obliged to use the retail management software determined / approved by the Franchisor in all stores. Initial investment and further development / maintenance costs belong to the franchisee.
