description of franchise concept
Welcome to the Scientific Kitchenette, a place where imagination rises into knowledge!
“Imagination is more important than knowledge,” said the great scientist Albert Einstein. The educational program, Scientific Kitchenette, was created precisely from the understanding of the depth and importance of this thought. The program was developed with the main goal of promoting scientific literacy among children at an early age, which greatly contributes to their cognitive development and creates an essential foundation for further learning through formal education. It is intended for children aged 5 to 8, covering the basics of chemistry, physics, and biology.
The program has already been translated into English, German, Croatian, and Macedonian, demonstrating its high level of adaptability and international relevance.
Our approach is based on nurturing children’s natural curiosity and their desire to learn about the world around them. Recognizing this capacity, a team of experts from the University of Belgrade, through the Scientific Kitchenette project supported by the Innovation Fund of the Republic of Serbia, designed a methodology consisting of the following elements:
- Introducing individual scientific concepts through discussion
- Demonstration activities that encourage reflection on a given topic
- Independent execution of experiments adjusted to the child’s age
- Logical tasks that reinforce learning
- Specially designed group games closely connected to the topic, where play transforms into functional knowledge
For example, all children have heard about the water cycle in nature. However, every child has their own idea of this phenomenon, which in most cases does not correspond to reality. Our team has created a unique system that allows children to observe all processes of the water cycle right on the spot. Through this example, the children explore different states of matter, the conditions under which matter changes state, and gain the ability to place these processes within their own cognitive framework, understanding the natural phenomenon properly.
Our mission is not to teach them what to think, but how. Respecting their initial ideas formed in childhood, we strive to gently expand their knowledge and introduce completely new insights based on facts.
Program Structure
The program contains 120 teaching hours.
- It is delivered through weekly workshops lasting 75 minutes, over six months (basic level) and another six months (advanced level).
- The workbooks are used for knowledge reinforcement and fully follow the thematic units covered.
- All our educators are certified and trained to work using the patented “Science Kitchen” method.
- Small groups of up to 10 students provide a personalized learning experience.
- The program is adapted to the children’s age (preschool and early school age).
Our Team
The Scientific Kitchenette team consists primarily of children and science enthusiasts.
- The experimental curriculum was developed by Dr. Sanja Seslija Savic, Research Associate at the University of Belgrade.
- Dr. Nevena Budjevac, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Teacher Education, University of Belgrade, places our scientific concept within pedagogical and psychological frameworks adapted to specific developmental stages.
- Jelena Pilcevic, a graduate chemical technologist and our lead instructor, is responsible for the final implementation of the program and teaching methodology.
- Jelena Samardzic, a graphic designer, successfully turns all our ideas into uniquely designed workbooks that are part of the teaching materials.
Scientific Birthday Parties
In addition to its educational component, our team has designed a fun extension of the program through Scientific Birthday Parties.
These birthday workshops include 4–6 entertaining scientific experiments, enabling children to approach a phenomenon from different angles and observe its many aspects.
We ensure that the scientific concepts are accessible to children, explaining them in a simple way within an exciting and dynamic environment! The birthday program lasts 2 hours, and is intended for 20–30 children.
Scientific experiments captivate all children — both boys and girls — whether they are already science lovers or are just beginning to discover this passion.
The editors of Green Classroom listed our birthday events among the four most original children’s birthday celebrations in Belgrade.
